(Hamilton, Canada) - Public spaces accounted for the largest share of hate incidents reported to the Hamilton Anti-Racism Resource Centre over the past year, CHCH reported October 28, citing its new annual community report.

Executive director Lyndon George told the broadcaster that the submissions do not capture all hate in the community. He called for better tracking of hate symbols and coordination among municipal staff, police and community organizations, alongside support for people using affected spaces.

The finding concerns reports received by HARRC, rather than a count of every incident or criminal offence in Hamilton. The complete numerical report was not available for TNC to review.

The City’s reporting resource lists police and HARRC support options and directs immediate threats to 911.
