(Belgrade, Serbia) - Serbia’s student-backed electoral list won Sunday’s parliamentary vote, with Aleksandar Vučić conceding defeat to the movement that grew out of almost two years of protests.

Reuters reports that Vučić acknowledged the Student List’s victory on October 25 while saying final results were not yet available. Euronews also reported the concession.

His projected seat figures were based on a sample. They are not a certified final count, and the reports reviewed do not establish a completed transfer of government.

The snap election was called in September. The protest movement followed the 2024 collapse of a railway-station canopy in Novi Sad that killed 16 people, according to Reuters.
