Canadian retail sales rose 1.2% in August to C$74.57 billion, Reuters reported October 23, citing Statistics Canada.
All nine subsectors gained, with motor vehicle and parts dealers leading. Sales volumes also increased 1.2%, while core sales, excluding autos and fuel, rose 1.1%.
A preliminary estimate suggested September sales increased 0.7%. That advance figure remains subject to revision.
