Canadian Heritage says national sport organizations will receive more than $156 million in federal funding in 2026–27, including an additional $60 million this year.
The October 22 announcement covers 62 organizations. The department says the support is intended to widen participation, develop athletes and strengthen safe-sport practices and integrity.
The additional money forms part of $112 million in new Sport Support Program funding, using a streamlined process for mid-year allocations. It is one component of the broader federal sport investment, rather than another $1-billion package on top of it.
The announcement sets out funding commitments and intended outcomes. It does not establish that every allocation has reached recipients or that the promised participation and safety improvements have been achieved.
