Bombardier outlined an estimated US$270-million first phase of American infrastructure investment on October 23, following the easing of U.S. political threats against the Canadian aircraft maker.
The company says it is recruiting for 500 existing openings and plans another 300 jobs through expansion. Those are different categories, not 800 newly created positions.
Texas would account for 150 of the planned additional jobs, with hiring also spanning Kansas, Indiana and Connecticut. Bombardier identifies its Wichita learning centre as one part of its wider investment, and plans further expansion in Dallas and Connecticut.
These are company plans and recruitment figures, rather than confirmation that all investment or hiring has been completed.
What changed: The October 23 investment and hiring announcement materially updates the earlier report about U.S. market-access rhetoric. The original article address and publication date are retained.
