(Toronto, Canada) – Toronto police are investigating a report that small needles were found in Halloween candy collected in the Upper Beaches, according to a police response published Monday by Beach Metro Community News.
Media relations officer Shannon Eames told the community newspaper on November 2 that police had received one call about the candy. She said she was unaware of any reported injuries and that investigators had received no other related reports in the area at that time.
The investigation concerns treats collected over the Halloween weekend. Police asked residents with concerns about collected candy to contact them. The available account does not establish where any affected item was handed out or identify a person responsible.
This is a separate Toronto report from the Oshawa investigation already covered by TNC. These reports do not establish that the incidents are connected or that tampering was widespread.
CityNews also reported Monday that Toronto police were investigating needles and pins reportedly discovered in a child’s east-end Halloween collection.
