Canada and Ontario have announced up to $45.3 million for Greater Sudbury infrastructure tied to the city’s commitment to eliminate residential development charges for three years.
The October 23 federal release says the charge reduction covers March 30, 2026, through March 31, 2029.
Proposed work includes moving Garson East from groundwater to the municipal surface-water system, plus watermain and sanitary-sewer improvements in the Maley Drive growth corridor.
Funding remains conditional
The allocation depends on intergovernmental agreements, further review and a municipal transfer-payment agreement. Municipalities must contribute at least 10 per cent of project costs.
The announcement does not establish that funds have been transferred, construction is complete or projected housing has been built.
