Actor Selma Blair was released on bond Monday after police arrested her following an alleged incident aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s police department identified Blair as the passenger involved after officers responded Sunday evening to reports of a physically abusive passenger at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Two flight attendants reported injuries

Police said Blair was taken into custody when the aircraft reached the gate and was transported to a hospital for evaluation. Two flight attendants reported injuries, and one was also taken to a hospital, according to the department’s statement reported by Reuters and ABC News.

Reuters reported that Blair was later arraigned in Queens on assault charges tied to allegations that she kicked a Port Authority police officer involved in her arrest and kicked a nurse at the hospital. Those claims are allegations and have not been proven in court. Blair was later released on bond.

Representative cites medical emergency

A representative for Blair said the 54-year-old actor experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct, received immediate medical attention after landing and was in stable condition.

Delta said it has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful conduct and that passenger and crew safety is its priority. The airline did not provide a separate account of what happened during the flight in the statement reported by Reuters.

Actor has spoken publicly about multiple sclerosis

Blair is known for roles in Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde and the Hellboy films. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018 and has spoken publicly about living with the autoimmune disease and advocating for people with disabilities.

A disclosed medical condition does not establish the cause of the incident. The available reporting attributes the medical-emergency explanation to Blair’s representative while separately identifying the allegations, police account and airline response.
