(Toronto, Canada) – A two-alarm fire destroyed a Scarborough restaurant early Monday, with firefighters working to contain the blaze and protect neighbouring buildings, according to CityNews’ account of Toronto Fire Services updates.

Crews were dispatched to 4401 Sheppard Avenue East, near Brimley Road, around 3:29 a.m. on November 2. Acting district chief Nathan Hubbard said they encountered a building engulfed in fire and escalated the response to a second alarm.

The fire’s intensity led crews to fight it from outside. In the update published at 8:16 a.m., Toronto Fire said most of the flames had been knocked down, but crews remained at the site. No injuries had been reported at that time.

Hubbard said police would attend as the investigation continued. The report did not establish a cause. There is no verified basis in this account to label the fire arson or connect it to other restaurant fires.
