One-quarter of Canadian children aged 0–4 meet all three age-specific recommendations for physical activity, sleep and screen time, ParticipACTION says in its new early-years report card.

The charity released the national assessment October 20. It reports 67% meeting the activity recommendation, 80% the sleep recommendation and 48% the screen-time recommendation.

A national benchmark, not a Hamilton survey

ParticipACTION says the report combines national, pan-Canadian and regional evidence. It also identifies lower-income families’ reduced access to recreation facilities, playgrounds and organized activities.

The release does not provide a single data-collection period for those headline percentages. They are not a new October census or local Hamilton rates.
