(Niagara Falls, ON) - Construction is underway on Niagara Parks’ four-acre Children’s Garden, with an opening planned for 2028.

The agency marked the start of work with an October 23 sod-turning ceremony at its Botanical Gardens. The announcement follows an earlier project ceremony in 2025; it concerns the construction phase rather than an attraction opening.

Nature learning and play

Completed designs by MT Planners and +VG Architects provide for ten interactive garden areas and two multi-purpose buildings. Niagara Parks named Merit Contractors Niagara as the general contractor.

The garden will sit near the Butterfly Conservatory and School of Horticulture. Niagara Parks describes it as a year-round outdoor classroom focused on nature-based play and learning.

The project has a $15-million fundraising campaign. TD Bank Group contributed $250,000 toward a wetland learning zone, while the Rotary Club of Niagara Falls Foundation provided $105,000 for a sound-garden and labyrinth area.
