Niagara Falls and Hotel Dieu Shaver have identified a site for a proposed residential hospice, with provincial approval and operating funding still to be secured.

The October 19 announcement places Millie’s Place on Montrose Road, immediately north of the new South Niagara Hospital. Empire Homes donated the land.

A proposal, not an opening

Under the partnership proposal, the city would own the facility and Hotel Dieu Shaver would operate it. The organizations have submitted their proposal to Ontario’s Ministry of Health for consideration.

Their announcement anticipates further planning and building approvals through the rest of 2026 and into 2027, subject to council approvals and other requirements. That is not a confirmed opening timetable.
