TORONTO — The Maple Leafs listed John Tavares as week to week with a lower-body injury on Saturday, October 17, adding a new status update after he left Thursday's game against Buffalo.

The 36-year-old forward went to the dressing room early in the third period following a collision with Sabres forward Josh Norris. Toronto lost that October 15 game 5–4 in overtime.

A status update, not a return date

The designation leaves the timing of Tavares' return unresolved. It should not be read as confirmation that he will be available for a particular game.

Tavares has two goals and five assists in seven appearances this season. He contributed two assists against Buffalo before leaving the game.

Saturday's announcement is a further development from the injury exit described in TNC's earlier report on the Sabres' comeback.
