HAMILTON — Burlington runner Kat Clewley completed a 100-kilometre backward run at Hamilton’s Ray Lewis Track on Saturday, October 17, according to CHCH’s Sunday report.

The effort was a fundraiser for Good Shepherd’s Steps to Health programme. Clewley is seeking Guinness recognition; TNC has not verified a certified record or an official finishing time.

A challenge with a local purpose

The organizer’s event website independently identifies the October 17 venue and a $6,200 fundraising goal. Its public programme invited people to try running backwards and support the cause.

Clewley’s fundraising page says donations are intended to help Steps to Health members attend camp. The target is not a claim that the full amount has been raised; this article does not publish a changing donation tally.

What Steps to Health provides

Good Shepherd’s service information describes a health-and-lifestyle programme for Greater Hamilton adults with a mental-health diagnosis. Activities include exercise, cooking, nutrition and smoking and weight management.

The charity’s programme and the fundraiser are distinct from formal record certification. Completing an attempt does not itself establish Guinness approval.
