HAMILTON — A Hamilton Police officer has been charged with breach of recognizance following an investigation by the Halton Regional Police Service, Hamilton Police said Saturday.

The 47-year-old officer is an 18-year member of the Hamilton force. Police did not identify the officer in the October 10 release.

Charge follows earlier domestic-incident case

Hamilton Police said the officer had previously been charged in August 2025 in connection with what the force described as a historical domestic incident. Police said bail was opposed in that earlier case and the officer was released subject to conditions.

The new charge alleges a breach of recognizance, meaning an alleged failure to comply with a court-ordered condition. Police did not disclose the condition at issue or the circumstances that led to the latest arrest.

Case remains before the courts

The charge is an allegation and has not been proven in court. Hamilton Police said it would provide no further comment because the matter is before the courts.

CHCH reported that Halton Regional Police led the investigation. A Halton Police news release about the arrest was not available at publication time.
