Hamilton residents can hear three mayoral candidates discuss housing and homelessness Tuesday evening at the Westdale Theatre. Hamilton is Home lists Andrea Horwath, Keanin Loomis and Scarlett Gillespie as participants.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; the meeting runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at 1014 King Street West. Admission is free, according to DundasToday. Organizers recommend registering to secure a seat and say a recording will be posted afterwards.

The coalition cites City figures showing 2,037 people experiencing homelessness, 6,642 households waiting for affordable housing and 37 per cent of renters paying unaffordable rents. Those figures are attributed to the organizers’ event notice.

Hamilton is Home brings together eight nonprofit housing providers with a goal of creating 5,000 affordable homes by 2030. Tonight’s meeting offers voters an opportunity to compare candidates’ proposed responses before the October 26 municipal election.
