Hamilton’s Forge FC became the first Canadian Premier League club to win the Canadian Championship on October 21, beating CF Montréal 4–2 in a penalty shootout at Stade Saputo.

The teams were level at 1–1 after 120 minutes. Antoine Batisse put Forge ahead from Noah Jensen’s corner before halftime; Daniel Ríos equalized shortly after the break. Montréal played with 10 men after Brayan Vera’s second yellow card in the 54th minute.

Dimitry Bertaud denied Prince Owusu from the penalty spot during regulation time, then made two more saves in the shootout. Manjrekar James converted the deciding kick.

The Voyageurs Cup victory also gives Forge a place in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup. It is a national cup title, separate from the CPL’s regular-season Shield and playoff championship.

Forge’s next scheduled league match is away to Pacific on October 25. The club’s national breakthrough comes before the conclusion of its league campaign, rather than replacing it.
