(Whitby, Canada) – Durham residents can meet climate specialists and community organizations at a free preparedness forum on Saturday, November 14.

The Region of Durham is hosting the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its headquarters, 605 Rossland Road East in Whitby. Its October 26 announcement describes a family-friendly program focused on practical steps for homes and neighbourhoods.

Local advice and hands-on activities

More than 25 local organizations are expected to participate. The program includes interactive exhibits, discussions with experts and electric-vehicle test drives.

Scheduled speakers include representatives from ICLEI Canada, the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, Durham’s health department, Windfall Ecology Centre and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.

The event is intended to help residents understand local climate risks and explore ways to prepare together. It is an upcoming public forum, rather than an announcement of a new emergency.

Admission is free. Residents can find the registration link in the region’s announcement below.
