HALIFAX — Chorus Aviation has agreed to acquire SkyCare Air Ambulance in a transaction valued at approximately $40 million in Canadian dollars. The October 19 announcement is a purchase agreement, not confirmation that ownership has already changed.
Chorus says $32 million will be paid in cash, with the balance due by March 31, 2029 if specified performance targets are met. The price includes contingent consideration and remains subject to customary adjustments.
Ontario medical-transport business
Based in Sioux Lookout, SkyCare employs about 220 people and operates 22 aircraft, according to Chorus. Its other bases are in Thunder Bay, Kitchener and St. Andrews, Manitoba.
The company provides medical evacuation, repatriation, organ transport and charter flights in Canada and the United States. Chorus also identifies a longstanding relationship with Ontario air-ambulance organization Ornge.
Chorus expects closing in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary conditions. That timetable is the buyer’s expectation, not a completed transaction.
