CANADA — The Winnipeg Jets earned their first victory of the season Sunday, while the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames both lost at home.
Connor powers Winnipeg
Kyle Connor scored twice on the power play and added an assist as Winnipeg defeated the Detroit Red Wings 3–2.
Cole Perfetti scored the Jets’ other goal and recorded two assists. Josh Morrissey added two assists, while Stuart Skinner made 33 saves. Winnipeg converted three of four power-play opportunities.
Vegas extends its run against Vancouver
Marc Gatcomb scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period as the Golden Knights beat the Canucks 3–2. Mitch Marner and Victor Olofsson also scored for Vegas.
Paul Cotter and Jonathan Lekkerimaki replied for Vancouver. Kevin Lankinen stopped 25 of 28 shots. The Golden Knights have now won eight consecutive meetings with the Canucks.
Calgary drops to 0–3
Seattle defeated Calgary 6–1 in the Kraken’s home opener. Mackie Samoskevich scored twice, and Joey Daccord made 32 saves.
Morgan Frost scored Calgary’s only goal. The Flames have been outscored 16–3 through their first three losses.
