Ottawa has opened applications for a venture-capital fund-of-funds stream and detailed a separate $750-million investment strategy aimed at helping Canadian companies grow domestically.
The October 22 announcement advances earlier budget commitments. Growth VCCI provides $1 billion on a cash basis beginning in 2026–27: $700 million for funds of funds, $200 million for life sciences and $100 million for emerging fund managers.
The application call now open is for the $700-million stream. Qualified fund-of-funds managers have until January 21, 2027 to apply; this is not a general startup-grant application.
The separate $750-million strategy allocates $75 million to pre-seed and seed investment and $675 million to later-stage growth. Ottawa is seeking feedback on the latter stream’s design until November 23, 2026.
Government projections for attracting private capital are targets, not money already raised. The announcement likewise does not mean the full $1.75 billion has been disbursed to companies.
