Canada Post says the first addresses in its door-to-door delivery conversion program began using community mailboxes earlier this week in Sept-Îles, Quebec, and Winnipeg.
In an October 22 update at its annual public meeting, the Crown corporation said nearly four million addresses will make the transition over the coming years. That is a phased program, not an immediate nationwide switch.
Check timing before delivery changes
A new postal-code lookup lets customers see when their area is scheduled for conversion. Canada Post says more precise dates will be added as plans are finalized and households will receive advance notice.
It also points customers with functional limitations to its free Delivery Accommodation Program. The update does not identify a Hamilton conversion date.
Separately, Canada Post says reviews of its retail network are starting largely in urban areas and will include public feedback.
