TORONTO — Canada defeated England 24–21 at BMO Field on October 16, ending the visitors’ 41-match unbeaten run, according to a full match report by The Canadian Press.
Shoshanah Seumanutafa scored the decisive try late in the second half. CP places the score in the 77th minute; Canada then protected its three-point advantage to the final whistle.
Savannah Bauder, Alysha Corrigan and DaLeaka Menin also scored tries for Canada. England’s tries came from Maddie Feaunati, Zoe Harrison and Sarah Bern.
CP reported attendance of 18,621, a North American record for a stand-alone women’s rugby match. That is a reported match-night total, replacing the more-than-18,000 pre-game projection in this article’s original preview.
The result follows September’s 26–26 draw in Exeter, which had already stopped England’s consecutive winning streak. Friday’s defeat ended the longer unbeaten sequence, which included that draw.
Ottawa rematch next
Rugby Canada’s official tour information schedules the teams’ next meeting for October 23 at TD Place in Ottawa. The Toronto match was the Canadian women’s first home appearance since their runner-up finish at the 2025 World Cup.
Update, October 16: This article originally previewed the Toronto fixture. It now reports the final result, decisive score and attendance; its original publication date and URL are retained.
