Police used tear gas and pepper spray during education protests in Brussels on Saturday, Reuters reports.
Agency witnesses saw officers hit and kick one demonstrator. Protesters also tried to ignite a pile of rental scooters and bicycles, Reuters reported.
Brussels police said no major incidents occurred. They reported nine detentions over public-order disturbances, prohibited weapons and incitement. Detention does not establish guilt.
