(Barrie, Canada) – Barrie police are warning customers to protect cash after bank withdrawals as investigators examine five thefts from vehicles reported since the beginning of September.

In an October 30 release, police said they believe suspects are watching people withdraw money, following them and waiting for a chance to steal it.

Latest reported theft was October 29

A witness reported seeing a man smash a vehicle’s rear driver-side window in a Cundles Road East parking lot. Police said the owner had left a substantial amount of cash in the centre console.

Keep withdrawals with you

Police advise against leaving money or valuables unattended in a vehicle. People withdrawing large sums should go directly to their destination and stay alert to their surroundings.

Anyone who believes they are being followed should drive to a safe location and contact police. Information about these investigations can be reported through Barrie Police’s online reporting service or at 705-725-7025.
