AtkinsRéalis is competing for a role in Türkiye’s planned Sinop nuclear project, Prime Minister Mark Carney said October 23, according to Reuters. The Turkish government will decide; no construction award was announced.

The opportunity builds on an earlier March 3 company announcement: subsidiary Candu Energy signed a memorandum with Türkiye Nuclear Energy Company to assess CANDU technology, site suitability, licensing requirements and possible business arrangements.

That exploratory agreement is distinct from a reactor order. The latest political assessment likewise does not establish financing, construction approval or Canadian employment gains.
