SEPANG, MALAYSIA — Canadian Lance Stroll finished 14th in Saturday’s Formula One qualifying session at Sepang, while Max Verstappen set the fastest time.

The official results list Verstappen’s final-session lap at 1:35.130, ahead of Lewis Hamilton’s 1:35.428. Reuters reports it is Verstappen’s first pole position of the season.

The Canadian result

Stroll reached the second qualifying phase for Aston Martin, recording 1:37.566. Teammate Fernando Alonso qualified 12th. These are qualifying classifications; penalties can change the final starting grid.

The event retains the Bahrain Grand Prix name but is taking place at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit. The race is scheduled for Sunday, October 4.
