(Atlanta, United States) – Toronto FC’s MLS playoff hopes ended Sunday with a 3–1 defeat at Atlanta United, leaving the Canadian club outside the postseason for a sixth consecutive year.
Miguel Almirón scored in the 22nd minute and Cooper Sanchez doubled Atlanta’s lead in the 40th. Alexey Miranchuk added a third in the 51st before substitute Lewis Morgan replied for Toronto in the 79th, according to Toronto’s official recap and The Associated Press.
Toronto’s record stands at nine wins, 12 losses and 12 draws, with 39 points. The loss followed its midweek victory over D.C. United and made the November 7 regular-season finale a game without a remaining playoff route.
The Reds close their MLS schedule against Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Toronto lists kickoff at 4 p.m. Eastern.
