Good evening. I’m Marcus with The Northern Current for Saturday, October 31.

Canada’s emergency medical stockpile is facing renewed scrutiny. In a report released Thursday, Auditor General Karen Hogan found persistent weaknesses in how the Public Health Agency of Canada manages its supplies. The agency wrote off three hundred and thirty-one million dollars in expired or damaged medical supplies during the twenty-twenty-five to twenty-twenty-six fiscal year. The audit also found important gaps in inventory planning. It did, however, find that the agency fulfilled all eighty-one supply requests it received from governments and federal organizations over the two years reviewed.

In Hamilton, the Police Service Board has listed a special virtual meeting for November sixth, with a YouTube stream. The board is developing its twenty-twenty-seven to twenty-thirty strategic plan. Its current plan remains in effect while that work continues.

In football, Toronto’s season is over. Winnipeg beat the Argonauts twenty-five to twenty-two in today’s East semi-final. Nic Demski caught the go-ahead touchdown with forty-four seconds remaining. The Blue Bombers now travel to Montreal for the East final on November seventh.

And in women’s soccer, AFC Toronto beat Ottawa Rapid four-two in the first leg of their Northern Super League semi-final. Kaylee Hunter scored twice. Toronto takes a two-goal advantage into the return match in Ottawa on November seventh, with a place in the championship final at stake.

Those are your evening headlines. Follow The Northern Current for the latest updates.
