Good evening. I'm Lucy, and this is The Northern Current for Sunday, November first.

We begin in Puslinch, where police have released more details about Saturday's fatal crash. Four teenagers died after a vehicle left Watson Road South, struck a guardrail and entered a ravine. Six people were inside. Two teenage girls survived. According to the Ontario Provincial Police update reported by CHCH today, one has life-altering injuries, while the other's injuries are not considered life-threatening. The investigation continues. No cause has been established in the reporting we've verified.

In Stoney Creek, Hamilton Fire estimates damage at one million dollars after a house fire on Wardrope Avenue Saturday afternoon. CHCH reports that nobody was inside and no injuries were reported. Flames spread from the front porch toward the roof. The cause remains undetermined.

In Burlington, November first is Joseph Brant Hospital's announced launch date for Dovetale, its shared digital health information system with St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. The hospital cautions that some processes may take longer while staff adjust. Care continues during the transition. Patients with questions about their care should speak with their care team.

On Canada-U.S. trade, Prime Minister Mark Carney says a constructive conversation with President Donald Trump has opened the way for further negotiations. Both leaders struck a more positive tone Sunday, but this is not a completed agreement. Negotiators are expected to work in the coming weeks, and details of any tariff relief have not been announced.

In Yemen, the United Nations is demanding an investigation into the death of human-rights staff member Mohammad el Shami in Houthi custody. A U.N. statement issued Saturday says he had been detained since June twenty twenty-four. The circumstances of his death remain unclear. The U.N. is also calling for the release of its other detained personnel.

And in hockey, Toronto beat Vancouver four-two on Saturday night.

I'm Lucy. Follow The Northern Current for the latest verified updates.
