(Los Angeles, United States) – Ottawa turned a 5–1 third-period deficit into an overtime game Thursday, but the Senators left Los Angeles with one point after the Kings won 6–5.
Quinton Byfield ended the comeback bid 3:37 into overtime. Ottawa had forced the extra period when Shane Pinto redirected Drake Batherson’s shot with 1:40 left in regulation and the Senators’ goalie off for an additional attacker.
Dylan Cozens began the rally at 7:18 of the third period. Batherson scored 33 seconds later, and Cozens added a power-play goal to put Ottawa within one before Pinto tied it.
The Kings built their advantage with four second-period goals. Ottawa replaced starter Jonas Johansson with Samuel Ersson during that period.
