The Toronto Raptors opened their preseason with a 129–105 loss to the Miami Heat at Quebec City’s Videotron Centre on Saturday.
RJ Barrett scored 15 points and Scottie Barnes added 11. Kawhi Leonard did not play as Toronto continued managing his preparation for the season.
Miami builds a first-half cushion
The Heat led 76–55 at halftime. Toronto forced 25 Miami turnovers but struggled to turn its defensive activity into enough offence.
The Raptors made 12 of 41 three-point attempts. Miami’s passing and perimeter shooting helped establish the early advantage, with most starters seeing little second-half action.
An early exhibition test
The result offers a first look at Toronto’s preparation, rather than a regular-season verdict. Several rotation players were unavailable, and the coaches used the game to assess camp players.
Toronto’s next preseason game is scheduled against the Los Angeles Clippers in Vancouver on Saturday, October 10.
