(Quebec City, Canada) - Quebec intends to end seasonal clock changes, but residents should still prepare for the return to standard time on November 1.

Justice Minister Marie-Claude Sarrazin announced October 28 that the government plans legislation to make the coming change the last. Permanent daylight time or standard time has not been chosen.

Consultations with specialists, the public and opposition parties are planned after parliamentary work resumes. The announcement sets out an intention, not an enacted law.

For this weekend, the government says clocks go back from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Sunday, November 1. Its current time-rules page also lists territorial exceptions, including the Lower North Shore, which follows Atlantic standard time year-round.
