(Ottawa, Canada) – Ottawa police say targeted traffic patrols on Friday and Saturday evenings resulted in 65 charges, including five stunt-driving incidents.
The service released the results October 28. Officers issued 55 tickets and 10 summonses requiring court appearances; speeding accounted for 37 tickets.
Police reported stopping a 19-year-old at an alleged 135 km/h in a 60 km/h zone near Riverside Drive and Hunt Club Road. Other reported incidents included 126 km/h in a 70 km/h zone near Bronson Avenue and Riverside Drive, and an 18-year-old G2 driver allegedly travelling 108 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
The operation also produced a distracted-driving charge, a failure-to-yield charge and two traffic-signal charges. Police listed additional licensing, documentation and vehicle-safety offences.
The figures describe enforcement activity, not convictions. The allegations remain subject to the court process.
