(Toronto, Canada) – Operation Mincemeat begins its Canadian premiere tonight at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, bringing its wartime espionage comedy to Toronto for a run scheduled through December 13.

Mirvish lists the first performance for Tuesday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. The theatre is at 260 King Street West.

The musical draws on the 1943 deception operation in which misleading documents were planted on a body to divert attention from the Allied invasion of Sicily. The stage adaptation turns that improbable intelligence plot into a musical comedy.

The show was created by SpitLip, with direction by Robert Hastie and choreography by Jenny Arnold. Mirvish lists a running time of approximately two hours and 35 minutes, including an intermission.

Audience information flags strobe lighting, periods of darkness and loud sounds. Captioning and audio description are available through GalaPro; patrons should check the production’s current accessibility and performance details when planning a visit.

This is an opening-day preview, not a review of the Toronto production.
