OTTAWA — NEXUS applicants receiving conditional approval from April 1, 2027 will have two years to book their enrolment interview, the Canada Border Services Agency announced October 1.
The current five-year window was a temporary response to pandemic disruptions. CBSA says increased interview capacity now allows a return to the earlier two-year limit.
Already conditionally approved?
Approvals issued before April 1, 2027 remain subject to a different deadline: applicants must book within five years of approval or by April 1, 2029, whichever comes first.
CBSA urges people awaiting an interview to make an appointment promptly to prevent their applications from expiring.
What applicants should check
Find your conditional approval date before calculating your deadline. The announced change concerns interview scheduling; it does not mean every existing NEXUS membership expires in April.
Applicants need interviews with both Canadian and U.S. border officials before receiving a card.
