(Toronto, Canada) – McMaster’s men’s soccer team was eliminated from the Ontario University Athletics playoffs Saturday, losing 1–0 to Toronto Metropolitan University in a semifinal at Downsview Park.
Exosse Kadiebue scored in the opening five minutes. The early finish proved enough for TMU, which protected its advantage through the remainder of regulation and seven minutes of added time.
Early goal decides semifinal
According to TMU’s October 31 game report, McMaster created pressure before halftime, but goalkeeper Dante Ferraro and the Bold defence kept the Marauders off the scoreboard.
The hosts also threatened to extend their lead, with attempts hitting the post and crossbar. McMaster continued searching for an equalizer late in the match; a free kick near the penalty area went over the crossbar in the closing stages.
TMU advances
The result sends TMU to the OUA final and secures its place at the U SPORTS championship in Victoria, scheduled for November 12–15.
