(Hamilton, Canada) - McMaster University plans an emergency preparedness exercise on Thursday, October 29, involving a simulated radiological incident at its campus cyclotron facility.

The university’s notice identifies the Tandem Accelerator Building as the exercise site, with activities also using areas around that building and the General Sciences Building.

Participants include McMaster’s Health Physics and Nuclear Operations and Facilities teams, the Hamilton Fire Department, and University Health Network’s Medical Emergency Radiation Incident Team.

CHCH reports the scheduled exercise window is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., citing the university.

The announcement concerns a planned simulation, not an actual radiological emergency. It does not report a radioactive release or an injury.
