HAMILTON — Hamilton police are looking for three suspects after an early-morning home invasion on the Mountain in which one person was reported to have a handgun.

Officers responded shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday, October 15, to a residence in the East 8th Street area. Police said three people forced their way inside, encountered the homeowner and then fled on foot. No injuries were reported.

No arrests had been announced when Hamilton Police Service published its appeal Thursday afternoon. The service did not state what may have been taken or whether investigators believe the home was targeted.

Police request surveillance footage

Investigators described all three suspects as male and said they wore dark hoodies or sweaters, pants and face coverings. Police said one carried a black backpack, another a blue bag and one was armed with a handgun.

The Division 3 Criminal Investigations Branch asked residents and businesses near East 8th Street to review surveillance footage for suspicious activity around the time of the incident. Anyone who witnessed activity that may be connected to the investigation is asked to contact Hamilton police; anonymous information can be provided to Crime Stoppers.

The account of the break-in and the suspect descriptions come from police. No suspect has been identified, arrested or charged in the information released publicly.
