(Hamilton, ON) – Hamilton has released details for Remembrance Week ceremonies, including a Sunday garrison parade that will close part of King Street and a November 11 service available to watch from home.
The City’s November 2 announcement lists its Indigenous Veterans Day service for Friday, November 6, at 1 p.m. at Battlefield House Museum & Park, 77 King Street West. The outdoor gathering will take place at the Eagles Among Us Monument. Seating reserved for Indigenous veterans and elders is limited, and the event listing advises visitors to bring a chair.
On Sunday, November 8, the garrison parade leaves the John Foote V.C. Armouries at 200 James Street North at 10:15 a.m. and heads south to Gore Park. The service at Veterans’ Place begins at 10:45 a.m.
King Street will be closed between Catharine and James streets from 10 to 11:45 a.m. ASL interpretation and seating in front of the interpreter are planned. The City asks people who need that seating to arrive before the parade reaches the cenotaph.
The Wednesday, November 11, ceremony at Veterans’ Place starts at 10:45 a.m. It will be carried live on Cable 14 and the City’s YouTube channel, with ASL interpretation also available at the service.
A separate tribute begins sooner. The free Hamilton Cemeteries Field of Flags runs November 4 through 11, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Flags will be displayed at the Hamilton Cemetery Gate House and veterans’ graves in Woodland Cemetery’s Field of Honour. The City says the display is expanding to Mountview Gardens and Mount Hamilton Cemetery in 2026.
Residents can check the City’s Remembrance Day listings for other neighbourhood services and any updated arrangements.
