(Hamilton, Canada) – Hamilton police say they closed two unauthorized cannabis stores after one resumed business a day after an earlier police search.
In an October 30 release, police said officers returned October 29 to 45 Wellington Street North. An earlier warrant had been executed about two weeks before. Police said they closed the operation and prohibited entry, including by the property owner.
A second search targeted 1142 Barton Street East, with municipal and provincial agencies assisting.
Police said a 27-year-old Hamilton man faces cannabis-sale, possession and proceeds-of-crime charges. A 24-year-old man faces cannabis-related charges, a tobacco-trafficking charge and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The allegations have not been proven in court. The release does not name the accused or report convictions.
Police estimated that roughly 30 unauthorized cannabis stores operate in Hamilton and said repeat reopening has prompted additional enforcement measures. The release does not establish an organized-crime connection involving these specific premises.
