HAMILTON — Hamilton residents whose homes were damaged in four summer rainstorms may qualify for a one-time compassionate grant of up to $2,000, under a city program detailed this week.
The program covers eligible residential flooding associated with July 21, July 28, August 2 and August 7, 2026. Homeowners and tenants may qualify for uninsured costs.
The amount depends on the claim
The city says a grant is limited to the lowest of $2,000, the insurance deductible or actual eligible expenses. Homeowners may seek support for eligible restoration and essential household items; tenants may seek support for eligible damaged contents.
Lost wages and landscaping are excluded. Residents currently in litigation with the city are ineligible, and payment requires a release relating specifically to the grant.
How to apply
Contact the city’s administrator, Sedgwick Canada Inc., at 905-285-8770 or 905-285-8762 for an application. Keep tenancy or ownership proof, insurance records, receipts and photographs.
The city lists deadlines of November 21 for the July 21 storm, November 28 for July 28, December 2 for August 2 and December 7 for August 7.
