(Ottawa, Canada) – The Canada Revenue Agency is asking people who may qualify for its planned pre-filled return service to update their accounts and choose electronic correspondence by October 31.
The agency lists a filed 2025 return by that date, lower income, a simple non-taxable situation and a CRA account among the conditions for a possible invitation. Personal information should be current.
Invitations for one million eligible people are planned from March 2027, for filing 2026 returns. The service is free, but recipients must check the information, correct it or add missing details, then accept and submit the return.
The October 31 notice concerns invitation eligibility. It is not an announcement that ordinary annual tax-filing deadlines have changed, and meeting the conditions does not guarantee selection.
