China’s State Council has called for measures to cushion employment disruption from artificial intelligence, Reuters reported October 23.

The guidelines urge agencies to monitor job risks, prepare contingency plans and support workers moving into new employment. They also call for career advice, training and job recommendations for displaced workers.

Authorities want AI to create jobs and improve work quality while tackling algorithm-related discrimination, recruitment fraud and privacy abuses in personnel management.
