(Ottawa, Canada) – Canada added information about a U.S. security alert for Moscow’s Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve to its Russia travel advisory on October 31.

The U.S. warning reproduced by Global Affairs Canada identified a credible threat of a mass-casualty event at the museum. It specifically referred to Saturday, October 31.

Warning against all travel remains

Canada’s advisory continues to recommend avoiding all travel to Russia because of the war in Ukraine and terrorism risks. The October 31 update added the security alert; the overall warning was already in place.

Canadians in Russia are advised to consider leaving by commercial means. Those remaining should keep a low profile, monitor reliable information and maintain supplies of essential items and medication.

The advisory also warns that access to Canadian and most international financial services is restricted, and that Canada’s ability to provide consular assistance could become severely limited.
