Prime Minister Mark Carney will host European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Montreal on October 29 and 30, Global Affairs Canada announced Friday.

The department has opened media accreditation for the Canada–EU Summit. The two-day meeting remains an upcoming event; the advisory does not announce a completed agreement or disclose a detailed agenda.

Dates confirmed, outcomes still ahead

The announcement provides a firm date for the next meeting between the Canadian prime minister and the leaders of the EU’s principal institutions. Any decisions or joint commitments will need to be assessed when they are released.

Journalists seeking access must apply by midnight on October 26. Global Affairs says accreditation does not guarantee entry to every summit event. Its application process includes requirements for assignment letters, press credentials or evidence of recent published journalism.
